Vira Ustianska is a Ukrainian artist and art teacher. She has a master’s degree in painting from Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Art, where she studied at the portrait-genre workshop under the guidance of professors Victor Chaus and Vasily Ganotskiy. Among her many accolades, she has been a curator of the Drawing Studio at the National Union of Artists of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia. In 2017 she opened a studio of academic painting, ‘V-ART’ and taught painting, drawing, plastic anatomy, coloring, and composition at the collegiate level. In 2022, she was evacuated to the USA due to the war in Ukraine. Over the past 2 years she has created around 300 paintings, and takes part in art shows throughout San Diego.
“I think it is, like musical notes, that in painting, we do not have borders, we do not have words, and we have Inspiration… pure inspiration is indescribable; you can just feel and take it. That’s precisely why I share these paintings, which were created in San Diego County and reflect the light and landscapes that inspire me every day. It is my goal to build a bridge between the modern impressionistic paintings I have created here in California with South-East Ukrainian Impressionistic Art and Inspire us all to live and feel life!”

The Power of Place
Lester Machado
July 6 through August 18
From July 6 through August 18, art fans can view the new works of San Diego plein air painter Lester Machado. His work reflects the enduring tradition of plein air Impressionism thriving in Southern California. The solo exhibition features fifty new Machado paintings. As an added bonus the exhibit includes a collection of works by renowned artists who inspire and provide context for Machado’s artistic language of contemporary realism. “I find inspiration in the unique beauty of the light we have in San Diego. The softness of a foggy morning or the sharpness of summer’s glare illuminate our special home, San Diego.”
The Art of Experience
Ted Berryman and Martha Moramay Cuevas
May 4th – June 16th , 2024
"The Art of Experience" is not only a tribute to Cuevas’ memory, but also a celebration of the couple's artistic journey together. Together, Berryman and Cuevas shared a life and studio on a quiet ranch in Santa Ysabel, dedicating their lives to the creation of art that speaks to the human experience. Their story, marked by a shared commitment to exploring all aspects of the human condition through art, is a testament to their belief in art's experiential nature. Berryman's reflections on the necessity of interaction and engagement with art highlight the exhibition's core philosophy—that art is enlivened through experience, inviting viewers to break free from traditional constraints and immerse themselves fully in experiencing each piece.
